Founded in Manchester in 1920, the Umbro brand markets, designs, and sources football apparel, footwear and equipment in over 90 countries. Originally known as Humphery Brothers Clothing, the company was re-named to Umbro in 1924. In the late 1980's and early 90's, Umbro manufactured a popular style of shorts, which were made of nylon, had a drawstring waistband, and frequently came in bright colors. These shorts were so popular that they were nicknamed "Umbros".

Today, Umbro specializes in football kits, clothing, and other football apparel such as training kits and boots. In addition, Umbro produces all types of sports wear and apparel as well as casual clothes and shoes.
