Safeway is a popular grocery chain throughout the United States and Canada. They feature their own line of products, including 3,000 items under Safeway, Lucerne and Mrs. Wright's labels. They also sell 1,250 premium products under the award-winning Safeway SELECT label.

In 1915, M.B. Skaggs purchased a tiny grocery store from his after in Idaho. Years later, his company merged with over 320 Selig stores to create Safeway. The new company was the first to introduce pricing by the pound, open dating on perishables and nutritional labeling, as well as some of the first parking lots. Safeway also takes its environmental and social responsibilities seriously. They recycle more than 450,000 tons of material per year; they are also one of the largest commercial buyers of renewable energy.

Safeway has almost 2,000 stores throughout the United States and Canada, including sister companies Vons, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Genuardi's and Carrs.
