The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory opened its doors on May 1st, 1775. Under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, the company has been producing fine porcelain plates, cups, bowls, and figurines ever since.
In the beginning, the small team of artisans at the factory struggled daily against poor materials, lack of experience, and disappointing experiments, however practice paid off and soon Royal Copenhagen porcelain was esteemed worldwide.
Today, Royal Copenhagen has acquired several other Danish companies, and continues to bring customers the finest in Danish art. Each piece is still hand painted by some of Denmark's best visual artists, and the company looks to the new millennium with excitement whilst celebrating its rich heritage.
