With operations in more than 120 countries, Halliburton stands as one of the major players of the energy market. Founded in 1919 in Texas by Erle Halliburton, the corporation has grown from a local cement company to a multinational giant, often the target of criticism and controversy.

The company consists of two major divisions. The first, the Energy Services arm, specializes in technical products and services for oil and gas exploration and extraction. The second, KBR, is a subsidiary construction company that builds refineries, pipelines, chemical plants and more.

Due to Dick Cheney's ties with the company, which continued during his terms in office, Halliburton and its subsidiary have been accused of war profiteering in Iraq. Despite the negative press, the company's revenue continues to grow, suggesting this giant may grow bigger still.
