Founded in 1919, the Green Bay Packers joined the NFL in 1921. The last of the "small town teams", the Packers hold the record for the most NFL championships with 12. Another interesting fact about the team is that they are the only non-profit, community owned major league professional sports team in the United States.
The Green Bay Packers have long enjoyed a large following throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. Their biggest rivals are the Chicago Bears, with whom the rivalry extends al the way to the Football Hall of Fame, as the Bears famously have one more inductee than Green Bay.
The Packers have a notoriously dedicated fan base. Their waiting list for season tickets is one of the longest in professional sports, with approximately 71, 500 people waiting in early 2006. "Cheeseheads", as Packers fans are informally known, will do anything to support their team!
