Golfsmith is the world's number one clubmaking supplier. The company was established in 1967 in the spare bedroom of Barbara and Carl Paul, an engineer who fell in love with golf and recognized the need for custom-fit golf club components for golf club repair shops nationwide. Now, Golfsmith is the largest golf retailer that designs and markets custom-fit golf clubs and components under proprietary brands.

The company also has a line directly for women called Drive. Recently, they began offering a line of tennis gear for men and women, as well as pre-owned golf gear for amateur players.

A majority share of Golfsmith was acquired by First Atlantic Capital in 2002.
