Giovanni "Gianni" Versace was one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century, claiming influence from Andy Warhol and modern abstract art.

As the "Prince of Fashion," Versace, who was raised in Italy, preferred the clothing in his women's line to be tight and low cut – to be sexy and aggressive, even with a little metal. He was known for bringing back the cat suit and the mini skirt and for introducing the bustier as nightwear.

He had a series of lines atop his clothing, including underwear, accessories, jewelry and watches, eyewear, fragrances and a home collection. Versace passed in 1997 at the age of 50. His brother and sister, Donatella, continue the flourishing Versace empire.
