"Fueling champions since 1965", Gatorade was born when a University of Florida coach sat down with a team of researchers to figure out why so many of his players were becoming afflicted with heat related illnesses.

Realizing that the fluids and electrolytes lost through sweat were not being replaced, and that the large amounts of carbohydrates needed for energy were not being replenished, the researches scientifically formulated a balanced carbohydrate-electrolyte drink to help the players maintain energy. They called this beverage Gatorade and watched their newly energetic team rise to the top.

Today Gatorade is the official drink of the NFL, and has been since 1969. It is found at every major sporting event, and playing without it is likened to playing with just ten men on the field.
