In 2004, baseball fans in Columbus, Georgia were delighted when they heard that a minor-league team would share their hometown. The Columbus Catfish, which took its name in 2004 after moving from Albany, Georgia, are a Class-A team in the South Atlantic league.
The team got its name from a favorite food in the South, often harvested from the Chattahoochee River. Its logo is a blue catfish batting at a peach, which represents the state of Georgia, known as The Peach State. The Columbus Catfish has been a minor-league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays since 2006.
On your next visit to Golden Park, make sure you boast blue, black and silver apparel, like baseball caps and jerseys, to show this young team how many fans it has behind it.
