Candie's Inc. is a hip line of clothing, intimate apparel, handbags, footwear and accessories for young women, founded in 1981. Made popular in the 80s by their high-heeled, wood-bottom slide, one of ever four women in America owned a pair of Candie's.
The New York-based company recently grew in fame thanks to Heartbreaker, a flowery, flirty fragrance, and their line of trendy shoes that are manufactured and distributed by Steven Madden Ltd. Candie's is known for their edgy but playful advertising, featuring current "it" girls, like celebrities Kelly Clarkson, Ashley Simpson, Destiny's Child, Hilary Duff and Pat Benetar for their new Vintage line. In 2007, Kohn's will be the exclusive retailer of Candie's brand, which is owned by Candie's Inc., licenser of sister companies Bongo and Badgley Mischka.
In 2001, the company introduced their celebrity-driven Candie's Foundation, providing awareness about the consequences of teen pregnancy.
