Burberry - available at 17 stores *
Burberry was founded in 1856 by former-draper's apprentice Thomas Burberry. It has since grown from a small but popular U.K. brand into an international designer label and one of the most widely-copied trademarks.
The company is widely recognized for its catwalk collection Prorsum and casual wear line, Burberry dresses anyone from upper-middle class women to U.K. and U.S. celebrities; Queen Elizabeth and The Prince of Wales have both granted Burberry Royal Warrants. The company is best known for its red, white, black and camel plaid pattern – a registered trademark – seen on coats, handbags and luggage since the 1960s.
In 2000, rising designer Christopher Bailey was brought into the company to turn around the declining brand. Bailey based his designs on the heritage of the company and was widely praised by critics and customers alike. The company expanded its line to include household items, watches, sunglasses, golf items and fragrances.
