Billy Blanks of a fitness guru and martial artist who invited Tae Bo, a total-body workout that mixed martial arts and kick boxing and took the exercise world by storm.
Blanks' popularity grew overnight. In 1989, he opened a fitness center in Los Angeles, attracting tons of celebrity clients. He soon featured Tae Bo workout DVDs and videos, signature dog tags with inspirational phrases, inflatable punching bags, energy formula, t-shirts, jam CDs, resistance bands, motivational CDs, cookbooks and more.
The Billy Blanks Foundation was established in 1999 by Blanks and his wife in order to give high-risk individuals the life skills necessary to achieve their full potential.
