BIC is known for their stationery and shaving products, as well as lighters. The company was created in 1945 by Marcel Bich and partner as a manufacturer of fountain pen parts and mechanical lead pencils.
The Connecticut-based company owns numerous brands, including their signature pens, BIC Kids, Conte, Sheaffer, Stypen, Tipp-Ex and White-Out. In addition, about four million BIC lighters are sold every day in classic, electronic and utility forms. Also, BIC's numerous shavers for men and women give flawlessly smooth shaves every time.
BIC has ventured into numerous other markets, as well. BIC Sports was established in 1979 and is today a world leader in windsurf and surf board production. In 1988, the company launched the world's first fine French perfumes for men and women, though distribution ceased in 1991.
