Trained in university to be papierfachman (paper specialists), Fred and Alfred Baumgarten moved to America, to escape the European front of WWII. Sight unseen, one of the brothers bought a shipment of pencil sharpeners, and sold them to the office industry through a miniature trade magazine ad.

Ever since beginning in 1948, Baumgarten's has adapted to the many changes that have come their way, bringing innovations to the industry. Their selection for schools and offices includes security and ID cards, holders, and lanyards, assorted varieties of paper clips, self-laminating pouches, knifes and scissors, clipboards, gloves, dusters, and pretty much anything else you could want for your workplace.
