Known throughout 2003 and 2004 as the Battle Creek Yankees, Michigan loved to cheer for their minor league baseball team. Playing in the Class A Midwest League, it entertained fans in the city for over a decade.

After playing in Springfield, Illinois (1982-93), and Madison, Wisconsin (1994), the team came to the hometown of Kellogg's Corn Flakes. Originally the Golden Kazoos, their name was changed to the Battle Cats in March 1995. After being associated with the Red Sox and Astros, the Cats partnered with the Yankees in 2003, changed their as such. In 2006, the team moved to nearby Midland, Michigan, where they became the Great Lakes Loons.
