Before he made it big as a writer, he was a doctor, although had few patients. In his free time, he'd pen stories. His first significant work was A Study in Scarlet and it featured the famed detective. More than 50 works would soon follow.

Taking the reader on a mysterious journey, Arthur Conan Doyle infused intellectual tidbits laced with endearing characters that today are considered legendary. As a prolific writer, he wrote many historical novels and science fiction stories, in addition to poems and non-fiction books.
