Acclaim Games was created in 2006 when the owners bought the Acclaim Entertainment company, created in 1997. Acclaim is known as an American video game developer, which has created software for platforms like Sega's Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn and Game Gear; Nintendo's NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, GameBoy; Sony Playstation; Microsoft Xbox and others.
After the acquisition, Acclaim Games announced their mission to become the first brand in the United States to bring some of the most successful online games to the world. They plan on focusing on community and multiplayer games and also offer registered members the opportunity to submit video games they've created.
Acclaim Games' subsidiaries include Iguana Entertainment, Valiant Comics and Sculptured Software.
