Brothers Kevin Seconds and Steve Youth played their first hardcore punk show in 1980. Many musicians and fans look at the members of 7 Seconds as "living legends." Both their positive ideals and straight edge mentality eschewed youth from mind altering drugs and alcohol, demonstrating that it's cool to keep clean.

During the '80s, the band experimented with different sounds and began to grow musically. Albums like Soulforce Revolution and Praise EP were products of the band's experimentation.

The name, 7 Seconds refers to the seven-second tape delay in American radio broadcasting. To this day 7 Seconds still records and tours.
