In 1979, band member Phil went to London, England with a demo in hand and came back with a rocking record deal. The five-some, better know as The 45's, was ready to get the ball rolling.
Nicko, John, James, Paul and Phil reported to Polydor Studios and recorded "Couldn't Believe a Word" and "Lonesome Lane." The top youth station, Radio 1 named their single 'Record of the Week,' but their label Chopper Records was not taking it as seriously. The 45s signed to Stiff records and were immediately greeted with interviews and TV performances.
During performances, The 45's often played a mix of original tracks, along with covers from The Beach Boys, The Beetles and The Monkees.
