New Zealand natives Dominic Stones, Denise Roughan and David Saunders decided link up and form 3Ds. The band's name was created from the three "D's" at the beginning of their names. However, the name never changed when the 4th "D", David Mitchell joined in 1990.
The alternative rock/pop band was active from 1988 until 1997. Friends getting together and sharing was the attitude that they carried throughout their 9 year career. After the release of their first album, Hellzapoppin, the 3D's toured America for a short time.
All of their CD cover art was designed by Mitchell, who began as a graphic artist. The album The Venus Trail was a work drawn by the guitarist/vocalist left-handed. The 3Ds split in '97 after releasing their final record, Strange News from the Angels.
