3DO - available at 5 stores *
In 1990, 3DO was created to revolutionize the gaming industry with a CD-based video game system. The 3DO Interactive Multiplayer made its way onto store shelves in 1993 as the latest next-generation console.
Two years later, the competition caught up with their own consoles, featuring high-end software and 3D graphics. As a result, 3DO's business decreased, and the company soon abandoned the console.
But a new era was in store for 3DO - as a third-party developer. To date, 3DO's best seller was a series of Army Men games, which starred the generic green plastic solider toys made popular in the movie Toy Story. Although 3DO no longer exists, its consoles and games live on in the homes of Americas nationwide.
