After the Woodstock Festival in 1994, the band titled 3 received the attention of Universal Studios thanks to a remarkable performance. They were signed onto the label in 1998, but left shortly after for a smaller indie label, Planet Noise Records.

The three piece band, hence their title, managed themselves until the re-release of Wake Pig under Metal Blade in 2005. The band is quoted as describing their music as dark and uplifting with no religious ties.

Their four albums include Paint by Number, Half Life, Summercamp Nightmare and Wake Pig. Although 3 was short-lived, they made a big impact on their progressive rock fans.
