In 1998, power punk band 22 Jacks received the ultimate compliment: a guest vocal appearance by punk hero Joey Ramone at one of their concerts. Together they rocked a Cheap Trick song and thrilled fans worldwide.

The band was formed in 1995 by Joe Sib (lead singer of Wax) and Steve Soto (formerly of the Adolescents and Agent Orange). The two are joined by guitarist Bill Fraenza, bassist Dave Nassie and drummer Jose Medeles, though a slew of other musicians have come and gone before them. 22 Jacks released its debut record, Uncle Bob, in 1996.

After the album's release, the band took off on a torrential touring schedule, which included acts with Social Distortion, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger and Unwritten Law. By 1998, 22 Jacks had released Observed, while Going North came out in 1999. Since their extensive touring, 22 Jacks has gone on an indefinite hiatus.
