13 Engines - available at 1 store *

In 1985, four York University students came together to form Ikons- later titled 13 Engines. Known for their catchy alternative tracks, 13 Engines switched their name to reflect the booming automobile industry in Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, where fans welcomed the band.

Independently, the foursome released two albums, Before our Time (1987) and Byram Lake Blues (1989). Not long after, 13 Engines was picked up by US based SBK Records but was dropped after their major debut because of the label's focus on the success of Vanilla Ice.

It was then that 13 Engines returned to their home soil to sign on with EMI Music. The 1993 album, Perpetual Motion Machine scored them a spot in The Tragically Hip's Another Roadside Attraction tour.
