Their first album dropped in 1981, titled Human Conflict Number Five. The American alternative-rock group 10,000 Maniacs got the ball rolling in Jamestown, New York. Dennis Drew (keyboards) and Steve Gustafson (bass) are the only remaining members, as the band has gone through a variety of musicians throughout their history.
The "former" list includes singer/songwriter Natalie Merchant, who was 17 when she joined the group. The five musicians performed for the first time as 10,000 Maniacs on Labor Day 1981. It was after this that the band became sick of performing covers and began writing their own material.
Live Twenty-Five was 10,000 Maniacs last album, headed under Harlem Beach Records. The group's legend lives on with alternative-rock fans everywhere.
